Source material relating to Presbyterians in the South Pacific [manuscript]. 1843-1900.

Copies of articles and transcripts of correspondence and journals relating to the history of Presbyterians in the South Pacific region. They include transcripts of the journals of John Paton and John Inglis. Most of the articles are from the Reformed Presbyterian magazine, with others being from the Scottish Presbyterian and the Free Church journal. Material is arranged chronologically.

Missionary. In 1858 Paton was ordained as a Presbyterian minister and missionary to the southern New Hebrides. In 1862 he went to Australia to address meetings and raise funds in aid of the mission.
